L7 Hongdae sits on Yanghwa-ro, a short walk from Hongik University Station, where Line 2, the airport railroad, and the Gyeongui-Jungang Line meet.

Staying here puts Hongdae's cafés, shops, and street performers at the door, and the same energy can feel like too much if you want a quiet night.

Why stay in Hongdae

Hongdae takes its name from Hongik University, and the streets around the station are known for cafés, small shops, live music, clubs, and street performers. Staying inside the area means you can drop bags at the hotel between outings and walk back after an evening out.

Performance spots and times vary by day and weather, so treat busking as a pleasant surprise rather than a scheduled attraction. The area is also not only about K-pop. It leans toward indie music, fashion, and nightlife.

The trade-off is noise and crowds. Evenings are busy, and the pages checked say nothing about how quiet any particular room is, so do not assume a room is either loud or calm.

For the wider picture of the neighborhood, the Hongdae area guide covers its sub-areas and who each one suits. If you are still building a route, the Seoul 3-day itinerary shows how a Hongdae base fits around the main sights.

Rooms at L7 Hongdae

The hotel lists 340 rooms in nine categories. Standard and superior rooms are all 24.8 square meters, and the two suites are larger.

Couples can look at the standard or superior double. Friends traveling as a pair can choose the twin version of the same categories, and three guests have the family twin or the triple.

Four guests in 24.8 square meters is tight with luggage, so the Loasis Suite is the larger option for a group of four. The hotel's page does not say how the superior category differs from standard beyond the name, so check what Agoda lists for the rate you pick.

A category name is not a promise about one specific room. The views above are the hotel's own labels, and the floor or the exact room can change what you see.

Rooftop pool and Floating bar

The rooftop pool is seasonal. Its 2026 season ran May 1 to September 30, so it is closed as of this guide's check date, and no 2027 dates were published.

The pool is on the 22nd floor and is small, about 14.8 by 3.7 meters and 1.2 meters deep. It is a place to cool off and look out over the neighborhood, not a lap pool.

The 2026 terms split the day into two sessions. The daytime session was open to all ages with a parent present, and the evening session was for adults 19 and over.

The hotel listed access as included for guests in 2026, with up to two hours per entry and no re-entry, and it noted that weather or private events can close the pool. Those terms can change from one season to the next, so do not choose a room for the pool without checking the next season's dates and rules.

Rooftop Bar Floating is a separate operation, also on the 22nd floor. The hotel lists it as open from 18:00 to 01:00 with last order at 00:30, for guests 19 and over, serving cocktails, wine, craft beer, salads, pizza, and burgers.

The bar's page describes the pool beside it, but a bar visit is not pool access. Confirm hours and entry rules with the hotel before you plan an evening around either.

The Place is an Italian bistro on the 21st floor. The pages checked do not describe a breakfast arrangement, so do not assume breakfast is included. Check your rate for breakfast and where it is served.

The hotel also lists Blue Roof Lounge with a vinyl collection, guest laundry, luggage storage, and a business corner with meeting rooms. Laundry and luggage storage help on a longer trip, and luggage storage is useful on the day you check out before an evening flight.

The fitness center is on the 5th floor, open 06:00 to 22:00 with a limit of 10 people, for hotel guests. The hotel posted a notice dated October 19, 2026 about a closure for flooring work. The text I could read did not give the closure dates, so ask the hotel before you count on the gym.

Dietary needs. Muslim travelers, vegetarians, and guests with allergies should ask the restaurant and the bar directly. The pages checked do not describe halal certification, vegetarian options, or allergen handling, so do not assume any dish suits those needs.

Hongdae shopping and street culture

Around the station you will find clothing and accessory shops, cafés, record and vinyl spots, and bars that stay open late. The pace picks up in the afternoon and runs well into the night, so mornings are calmer for a coffee and a walk.

Cosmetics are on many first-timers' lists. The Olive Young guide explains how the beauty chain's stores work, and the Daiso guide covers the budget variety chain.

The hotel's own introduction mentions Gyeongui Line Forest Road and Yeontral Park nearby. The pages checked give no walking times to either, so use a map app for current routes rather than assuming they are a few steps away.

Airport train access

Hongik University Station is on the airport railroad, and this is one of the hotel's real advantages for arrival and departure days. Take the all-stop train, because that is the AREX service that calls at Hongik University.

The AREX Express is a different train. VisitKorea describes it as running nonstop to Seoul Station, so it does not stop at Hongik University Station. You can still ride it to Seoul Station and transfer, but that is a longer way to reach this hotel than the all-stop train.

The hotel's location page says "express train" and gives about 55 minutes from Incheon, and it gives under 30 minutes from Gimpo by train or taxi. Because only the all-stop service calls at Hongik, read that wording as the all-stop train. Actual times vary by terminal and train.

The hotel's page puts the entrance a short walk from Exit 1. It does not say whether the route from the platform to that exit is step-free, so check the station's elevators on a map app if you travel with a large suitcase or a stroller.

The airport limousine operator lists route 6002 between Cheongnyangni and Hongdae. The pages checked do not confirm which stop is closest to the hotel or which direction serves arrivals, so check the operator's page before relying on it. For general options and terminal details, see the airport to Seoul guide and the Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 guide.

A taxi is the door-to-door option with heavy luggage. The hotel gives about 1 hour by car from Incheon and about 40 minutes from Gimpo, and traffic changes that. Show the driver 양화로 141 or the name 롯데호텔 L7홍대.

Getting around Seoul from Hongdae

Line 2 runs east from Hongik University Station through Sinchon and Ewha Womans University Station toward City Hall. The same line also reaches Gangnam and Jamsil directly, but those are long rides across the city.

AREX all-stop trains continue toward Seoul Station, so Seoul Station is a direct ride. Myeongdong Station is on Line 4, so the trip from Hongdae needs a transfer, and a route app will show the current best option.

Palaces and other central sights often need a transfer too, so do not assume every tourist stop is one ride away. A T-money card covers the subway and buses, and the T-money guide explains how to buy and top one up.

L7 Hongdae or L7 Myeongdong

Both hotels are Lotte's L7 brand, but they sit in very different parts of Seoul. This table sets out the facts the hotels list.

Who should stay here

First-time visitors who want Hongdae. The area, the airport train, and Line 2 are all within reach of the hotel.

Friends and solo travelers. Twin and family rooms sleep two to four, and the neighborhood is busy well into the evening.

Couples. A double room, a rooftop bar, and a lively area around the hotel suit an evening-focused trip.

Arrival and departure days. The all-stop train and luggage storage make the first and last nights easier.

Who may prefer another area

Quiet-street seekers. Hongdae is busy at night, so a calmer neighborhood may suit you better.

Palace-focused trips. The old palaces sit across the city, and the Seoul area guide compares other bases.

Lotte World or southeast Seoul. Jamsil is a long ride from Hongdae, and the Lotte Hotel World guide covers a Jamsil option.

Resort-style facilities. The rooftop pool is small and seasonal, and the pages checked do not list a spa or a large indoor pool.

What to check before booking

Room category and beds. Match the bed layout and guest count to your group, and remember a category does not guarantee a view.

Pool dates and rules. Confirm the season, age rules, and whether access is included for the dates you stay.

Rate inclusions. Breakfast and any facility access can differ by rate.

Fitness center. Ask whether the flooring work has finished if the gym matters to you.

Check-in, check-out, and luggage. The hotel lists 15:00 and 11:00, and it offers luggage storage.

Parking. The hotel has a parking area, but ask for current rules and fees before you drive.

Taxes and fees. Compare the final payable total, not a nightly headline.
