Eight hotels are covered here, and the right one depends on three things: where your days will be spent, how many people share a room, and whether you land or fly out on this trip. Each hotel below links to a full guide with room categories, facilities and airport routes.
This page picks a hotel. If you have not chosen a district yet, compare Seoul neighborhoods first.
This page has no booking links. Booking cards sit only on the individual hotel guides, and each guide explains how it is paid.
Quick comparison
The table lists each hotel's area, who it suits, and one fact that sets it apart. Every row links to the guide that backs the claim.
| Hotel | Area | Best for | Standout | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lotte Hotel World | Jamsil | Families, theme park trips | Connected to Lotte World; airport limousine 6705A stops at the hotel | Lotte Hotel World guide |
| The Shilla Seoul | Namsan | Couples, full-service stays | Indoor pool, seasonal Urban Island, Executive Lounge | The Shilla Seoul guide |
| L7 Myeongdong | Myeongdong | First visits, shopping | Myeongdong Station on Line 4 close by; coin laundry | L7 Myeongdong guide |
| Nine Tree Myeongdong II | Euljiro | Groups of three, longer stays | Family Twin and Standard Triple rooms; coin laundry | Nine Tree Myeongdong II guide |
| LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong | Euljiro | Stays of 3 to 5 days, sightseeing by subway | Euljiro 3-ga on Lines 2 and 3; guest laundry and a 7-Eleven | LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong guide |
| Hotel Skypark Kingstown | Dongdaemun | Shoppers, small groups | Triple, Family and Residence categories | Skypark Kingstown guide |
| L7 Hongdae | Hongdae | Hongdae street life | Seasonal rooftop pool; airport railroad at the station | L7 Hongdae guide |
| Holiday Inn Express Hongdae | Hongdae | A first or last night | Breakfast included; all-stop airport train at the station | Holiday Inn Express Hongdae guide |
Rooms, rates and facilities change, so treat the table as a starting point for the guide, not a final answer.

Pick by trip purpose
Each purpose lists the hotels whose own guides support it. One hotel can fit several.
First visit to Seoul
L7 Myeongdong is the central pick. Myeongdong Station on Line 4 is the nearest stop, and the hotel lists no pool, so choose it for location rather than facilities.
If you would rather ride the subway than walk the shopping streets, LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong stands near Euljiro 3-ga Station, where Lines 2 and 3 meet. It lists no pool.
If your first days center on cafes and street life in the west, L7 Hongdae puts Line 2 and the airport railroad at one station. The area is busy at night, which may not suit light sleepers.
Family or theme park trip
Lotte Hotel World sits inside the Jamsil complex, connected to Lotte World and Lotte World Mall. Its guide lists residential deluxe and junior suite categories for up to four guests, and it is a commute from the palace district.
For a family of three in the center, Nine Tree Myeongdong II lists a Family Twin and a Standard Triple, each for three guests at most. For a family of four, Hotel Skypark Kingstown lists a Family Room for four, with extra-bed and child rules to confirm.
Couples and a full-service stay
The Shilla Seoul is a 464-room hotel on the Namsan side of central Seoul. It lists an indoor pool, the seasonal Urban Island outdoor pool and an Executive Lounge.
Pool and lounge access can depend on your rate, and Urban Island is open only in warm months. Read the guide's pool section before you pay for either.
Shopping
L7 Myeongdong puts the Myeongdong shopping streets at the door. Hotel Skypark Kingstown is inside the Hyundai City Outlet Dongdaemun complex, which suits drop-off between shopping rounds.
Nine Tree Myeongdong II is a short walk from Euljiro 3-ga Station and close to Myeongdong, with luggage lockers listed.
Longer stay, 3 to 5 nights or more
Laundry decides a longer trip. Nine Tree Myeongdong II lists paid coin laundry that runs around the clock, Skypark lists a coin laundry on the 14th floor, and L7 Myeongdong lists one on the 2nd floor. LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong lists a guest laundry on the 3rd floor and a 7-Eleven on the 1st.
Skypark's Residence categories list a sink and microwave, which can cover simple meals. Check the category, because kitchen features differ by room.
First or last night near the airport train
Holiday Inn Express Seoul Hongdae and L7 Hongdae both stand at Hongik University Station. Take the AREX all-stop train, because the AREX Express does not stop there.
Lotte Hotel World is in Jamsil, but the airport limousine 6705A lists the hotel as a stop in both directions. Neither option is an airport hotel, so allow time for the ride and for luggage.
Hongdae cafes and nightlife
L7 Hongdae and Holiday Inn Express both put Hongdae outside the door. L7 Hongdae adds a rooftop pool that is seasonal and was closed after September 30 in 2026, with no 2027 dates published when checked.
Holiday Inn Express lists breakfast as included for staying guests, per IHG. It is the plainer option, and the L7 is the one with a bar and pool.
Pick by group size
Match the room category to the number of beds and guests, not only to the hotel.
| Group | Hotels that list a fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Solo | L7 Myeongdong, L7 Hongdae, Holiday Inn Express Hongdae, The Shilla Seoul, Nine Tree Myeongdong II, LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong | Area and airport route matter more than room size |
| Two people | All eight | Pool and lounge access on The Shilla Seoul rates |
| Three people | Lotte Hotel World, L7 Myeongdong, L7 Hongdae, Nine Tree Myeongdong II, LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong, Skypark, Holiday Inn Express Hongdae | Bed layout and the guest limit of the exact category |
| Four or more | Lotte Hotel World, L7 Myeongdong, L7 Hongdae, LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong, Skypark, Holiday Inn Express Hongdae | Occupancy by room category; consider two rooms |
For four or more people, never assume a "family" room fits everyone. Nine Tree Myeongdong II lists both of its family-style rooms for three guests at most, and Holiday Inn Express lists two queens only where offered.
Confirm the guest limit, the child policy and extra-bed rules for the exact room category before you book. Where a guide gives a four-guest room, it is named in that guide's room table. LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong lists its Premier Family Triple Room for four, and its guide asks you to confirm how adults and children are counted.
Pick by hotel area
The hotel matters less than where it puts you each morning. The table covers only the areas where these eight hotels stand. For all of Seoul's districts and how to choose between them, see the neighborhood guide for first-time visitors.
| Neighborhood | Hotel | Nearest station per the guide | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jamsil | Lotte Hotel World | Jamsil, Lines 2 and 8 | A commute from the palace district |
| Namsan | The Shilla Seoul | Dongguk University, Line 3 | Not a nightlife district |
| Myeongdong | L7 Myeongdong | Myeongdong, Line 4 | No pool listed |
| Euljiro | Nine Tree Myeongdong II, LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong | Euljiro 3-ga, Lines 2 and 3 | Nine Tree's family-style rooms sleep three at most; LOTTE City lists no pool |
| Dongdaemun | Hotel Skypark Kingstown | Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, Lines 2, 4 and 5 | Room features vary by category |
| Hongdae | L7 Hongdae, Holiday Inn Express | Hongik University, Line 2 and the airport railroad | Busy at night; Express train does not stop |
Myeongdong, Euljiro and Dongdaemun share the central core, so the difference between those three is mostly the style of shopping and the room types, not the distance to the sights.
Before you book
Run through this list on the guide page and again on the booking page.
- Match the property name and address. L7 Myeongdong and LOTTE City Hotel Myeongdong are different Lotte hotels in the same part of town, and the two Hongdae stays are different buildings.
- Check the room category. Occupancy, bed layout and kitchen features change by category.
- Check what the rate includes. Breakfast, pool access, lounge access and cancellation rules differ by rate.
- Check seasonal facilities. The L7 Hongdae rooftop pool and The Shilla Seoul's Urban Island do not run all year.
- Check the airport route. Confirm which train or bus stops near the hotel, and in which direction.
- Expect prices and hours to change. None of the guides state live rates, and the booking page is the source for current prices.
How these guides were chosen
The eight hotels are the ones with a published TripKopia guide, not a ranking of every hotel in Seoul. Many other hotels are not covered.
Facts come from each hotel's own pages, the Korea Tourism Organization listings and the transport operators, as cited in each guide. Where a source was unclear, the guide says to check the current official information.
The hotel guides may carry Agoda partner links, which can earn TripKopia a commission at no extra cost to you. That does not change what a guide says about a hotel.

Where to Stay in Seoul: Best Areas for First-Time Visitors
The smartest way to choose where to stay in Seoul is to think north vs south of the Han River first, then narrow to a neighborhood. North (Myeongdong, Jongno, Hongdae) is traditional and central: ideal for first-timers; south (Gangnam, Jamsil, Suseo) is modern, with shopping, Lotte World, and the SRT to Busan. This guide compares nine areas and helps you pick the one that fits your route, not just the most famous name.
Incheon Airport to Seoul Guide: AREX, Airport Limousine Bus, Taxi, and Best Routes to Jongno and Gangnam
The best way from Incheon Airport to Seoul depends on where you are staying, not on one "fastest" option. AREX Express is quickest to Seoul Station, the all-stop train is cheapest and runs direct to Hongdae, the limousine bus is simplest if a stop is near your hotel, and a taxi suits late arrivals or heavy luggage. Check your airline's terminal (T1 or T2) before you travel, since it changes where you board. The same modes reverse for departure day.
