The Westin Josun Busan stands on Haeundae Beach, at the Dongbaekseom end where the sand meets a wooded headland.

That position trades the center of the beach strip for sea views and a quiet coastal walk at the door.

The hotel was formerly called The Westin Chosun Busan, and some older pages and maps still use that spelling.

It is a separate hotel from Grand Josun Busan, which has its own address.

The photo in the booking card above comes from Agoda and shows one lounge seating area. Photos of the rooms and facilities from the Korea Tourism Organization's listing for the hotel follow below.

A beachfront hotel at the quiet end of Haeundae

Haeundae Beach is a long bay, and the busiest hotels, restaurants, and bars cluster toward its middle. The Westin Josun sits at the western end, beside Dongbaekseom, where the setting turns from storefronts to pines and water.

The hotel's page on Marriott's site gives the distance to Haeundae Beach as 0.1 km, so the sand is at the front door.

The practical effect is a calmer evening. The livelier strip is a walk or a short ride along the bay, and the hotel is a place to return to when it gets loud.

If you are still choosing a base, the Haeundae area guide lays out the hotel zones. Haeundae vs Gwangalli compares the two beaches.

Rooms and views

The hotel's room list sorts rooms by view first and then by bed setup. Categories include park view, beach view, and executive rooms with club lounge access. It also lists ondol (heated floor) rooms, family setups with a queen or twin bed, and several suites.

Marriott's page notes that all room sizes are approximate and does not show them in the list, so check the size of the category you choose before booking.

The Korea Tourism Organization's room photos show the same split. The beach view rooms frame the sea and a headland, while the park view rooms look out toward buildings or pines.

A beach view category is a room type, not a promise about every room on every floor. The low floor beach rooms are listed with a partial sea view.

Pool, club lounge, and facilities

The hotel's experiences page lists an indoor pool, the Beach Athletic Club for fitness, and a sauna. It states that children under 12 need a guardian at the pool.

The Korea Tourism Organization listing adds meeting rooms, a business center, and a flower shop. Operating hours and fees are not stated in the sources checked, so confirm them with the hotel before planning around the pool.

The Westin Club Lounge is attached to the executive categories. Marriott's page says it is complimentary for Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite members plus one guest. For other guests, access depends on the room category and rate you book, so check what your rate includes.

The hotel reported a renovation of its rooms, pool, lobby, and Panorama Lounge in July 2024. Older reviews and photos may show the earlier look.

Dining on site

The hotel lists five outlets: Camellia, Sheobul, O’Kims, Panorama Lounge, and Josun Deli. The dining page describes Camellia as the international buffet, Sheobul as Korean dining, and O’Kims as a pub, with the lounge and deli completing the list.

This guide does not list menus, hours, or prices, because they change. The dining page has the current details for each outlet.

Dietary needs. Muslim travelers, vegetarians, and guests with allergies should ask each outlet directly. The hotel pages checked do not describe halal, vegetarian, or allergen handling, so do not assume any dish suits those needs.

For meals beyond the hotel, what to eat in Busan covers the local dishes worth planning around.

Dongbaekseom and nearby attractions

Dongbaekseom is the wooded headland beside the hotel. VISITKOREA lists it as free and open around the clock, with a monument to Choi Chi-won, a mermaid statue, and camellias that bloom from winter into spring.

Nurimaru APEC House sits on the headland. VISITKOREA lists it as free, open 09:00 to 18:00 with last admission at 17:00, and closed on the first Monday of each month. Hours change, so check before you go.

Marriott's page lists these distances from the hotel: KidZania 3.1 km, Busan Cinema Center 3.4 km, Lotte World Adventure Busan 4.3 km, and the National Busan Science Museum 4.4 km. These are distances, not travel times, so check a map app for the route you plan to take.

Getting around Busan

Dongbaek Station on Line 2 is the closest subway stop. No official walking time from the hotel to the station was found, so check a map app for the current route.

From the station, Line 2 reaches BEXCO and Centum City, then continues toward Seomyeon. The hotel's own site says BEXCO is about 5 minutes away, without saying how you travel.

Seomyeon is the interchange with Line 1, which serves Busan Station and Nampo. A day in the old center therefore takes a Line 2 ride and a transfer. The Seomyeon guide covers that hub.

For a first Busan trip, the 2-day Busan itinerary shows how the beaches and the old center can fit together.

From Gimhae Airport and Busan Station

The hotel pages checked do not list an airport shuttle. From Gimhae Airport, the airport operator says the light rail connects to Metro Line 2 at Sasang and to Line 3 at Daejeo.

Line 2 from Sasang runs through Seomyeon and Centum City to Dongbaek Station. The operator's page gives no travel times or fares, so check a route app for the current journey. The hotel's own site cites about 40 minutes from the airport without saying by which route or at what hour.

From Busan Station, which KTX trains serve, the usual subway route is Line 1 to Seomyeon and then Line 2. A taxi is the door-to-door alternative with luggage. The KTX booking guide explains the train side.

Who should stay here

Couples. Beach view rooms, a quiet end of the bay, and a headland walk suit a trip built around the setting.

Families. Family room setups, an indoor pool with a guardian rule for children under 12, and a short walk to the beach make it workable. The attractions Marriott lists are a car or transit ride away.

Beach and coast trips. The sand and the Dongbaekseom path are both at the door.

Travelers with BEXCO or Centum City plans. Line 2 reaches both without a transfer.

Who may prefer another neighborhood

Nightlife seekers. The livelier part of the Haeundae strip is a walk or ride away.

First-timers focused on the old center. Nampo and Busan Station take a Line 2 ride and a transfer. A hotel in central Busan shortens that.

Views of the Gwangan Bridge. Gwangalli faces the bridge, which this end of Haeundae does not.

Guests who need a hotel shuttle. None is listed on the pages checked.

What to check before booking

The room category and view. Match the view, bed setup, and floor to what you want, and remember a category is not a guarantee for every room.

What the rate includes. Breakfast, club lounge access, and cancellation terms vary by rate.

Pool and facility details. Confirm hours, fees, and age rules for the pool and athletic club with the hotel.

Occupancy and extra beds. Count every guest by age and match it to the room's rules.

Taxes and fees. Compare the final payable total, not the nightly headline.

Which Josun. Make sure the listing is The Westin Josun Busan at 67 Dongbaek-ro, not Grand Josun Busan or Westin Josun Seoul.
